Three overnight North Sea ferry routes shape the network from the UK: Newcastle – Amsterdam (IJmuiden), Hull – Rotterdam and Harwich – Hook of Holland. Newcastle is especially simple: its continental passenger route is the DFDS sailing to IJmuiden, the port for Amsterdam. Farther north, Denmark becomes the gateway to Norway, with Hirtshals routes to Kristiansand, Stavanger and Bergen. Stena Line operates the Harwich – Hook of Holland crossing.
